![]() ![]() Should I go for an overbore with new pistons and then get a new head or would it be cheaper to just get a new piston and head and see how that goes? I have been having issues with this ski and am eager to get it on the water and wouldn't might a little more compression and power if I needed to overbore. Do you guys have any recommendation about what the cheaper path to resurrection might be? It doesn't really look like the piston or head is salvageable but could be wrong on this. Pretty bummed but would like to make it right. There is also a bit of scoring in the cylinder wall. Looks something something small got in there got compressed over and over. While I am waiting for parts I took a peek inside the cylinders and found some damage with the rear piston and head. In a follow up to some of the ideas y'all gave me I pulled the engine and found that it still does have the crankcase drain and I have pulled the engine so I can mount a block off plate. I wont be putting this thing on the water until I am fully confident this has been fixed, please let me know if you have any ideas. Has anyone experienced a run away like this and have any ideas on what I can do? I will put in a new throttle cable but cant be fully sure this is the culprit. I am very happy this happened off the water and want to do everything I can to have this never happen again. I had no idea what to do so I pulled the spark plug wires but even that would not cut it out, even tried pinching the fuel line. I hit the red off button a bunch of times, tried moving the throttle on the carb and seemed it was in the low position. ![]() ![]() Standing there, shitting my pants, I tried everything I could to get it to slow down or shut off. Tried hitting the throttle to unstick it if that was the issue, but nothing. Out of nowhere it started revving up to full throttle and would not stop. I gave it some bursts of throttle and she seemed pretty happy so I let it idle some more. It idled for about 5 mins great with the garden hose on. I attached the garden hose to it and turned it on once I got her up and running. Pulled my 650sx stand up out of storage to clean it up and make sure all is well with the carb settings. ![]()
